Known as the historic home of the Lutter family, it was originally situated on additional acreage which included a horse stable. The Lutter's owned a local brick company, which produced a distinctive buff-yellow color used widely in Chicago construction. The family was also active in local government, business and banking This home can be considered an eclectic design in the best sense. The many fine details, particularly gracing the tower entry, evoke various popular styles from the turn of the last century, including variations of Gothic Revival and Queen Anne. While shaded by the tall trees, the stone quoins catch your eye; but the roofline ornaments, decorated gable and stained glass windows warrant much further attention.
