780 Hudson Road

This very unique house was selected as a dramatic example of architectural variety, innovation and site changes over time.
The original house was a traditional two story home built in the late 1950s. In the reorientation to adjacent homes, the driveway which had once serviced the rear garage (and at an earlier time, the adjacent home on Hudson) was moved to the current location.
Extensive reconstruction began in 1999, with the vision provided by Chicago architect Nils Stangenes. This conserved the core of the existing house by expansive additions to the front and rear.
The extent of the changes can only be appreciated by viewing each new exterior and interior angles.
The lodge setting and large windows reflect the owners interest in special locations.
